This book cover was created by me for a local author here in Edwardsville. This novel is based on romance, voodoo, New Orleans, and other paranormal elements. I was asked to create a novel cover based on the characters within the book, that also included important elements to give a reader a feel for the paranormal / voodoo theme.
I purchased the images of the woman, man, and background off of various stock websites and used Adobe Photoshop to manipulate skin tone, eye color hair color, lip color and more. The models were placed in front of the background, and then I used various fog brushes and other brushes to gibv a mystical feel to the otherwise dark and scary swamp background.
The text was given a bevel and emboss effect, as well as a gradient overlay to help it really stand out from the rest of the images on the book.
The entire cover was created solely in Adobe Photoshop, and I used various techniques such as dodging, burning, smoothing, gradient overlay, adjustment layers, channel mixer, bevel and emboss, drop shadow and much more to give the completed look.
